On February 6, 2021, Metropolitan Makarios of Aenea celebrated 60th anniversary when he ordained for the first time in 1961.

Metropolitan Makarios of Aenea (born as Pavlos Pavlidis) was born in Giannitsa on September 24, 1937. From 1953 to 1959 he studied at the Athoniada Ecclesiastical Academy, while on December 4, 1955, he became a monk at Koutloumousiou Monastery on Mount Athos. He continued his studies at the Theological School of Halki, where he graduated in 1963.
On February 6, 1961, he was ordained a deacon and a presbyter on May 19, 1963, in the Church of Saint Dimitrios in Ttoula by the Metropolitan of Philadelphia, Iakovos.
On November 3, 1985, he was ordained Bishop of Lampsacus in Zurich by the Metropolitan of Switzerland, Damaskinos, and served as Assistant Bishop in the Metropolis of Switzerland, in charge of the staff of the Orthodox Center.
On July 10, 2018, by decision of the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, he was elected Metropolitan of Aenea and Exarch of Ionia.
