Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Wednesday in Davos that documents being prepared with Washington to bring an end to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine are “almost ready,” following his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump.
Speaking after the talks, Zelenskyy acknowledged that progress has not been easy. “We met with President Trump, and our teams are working almost every day. It’s not simple. The documents aimed at ending this war are nearly, nearly ready,” he said, adding candidly that dialogue with the American president “is not simple.”
Addressing the World Economic Forum, Zelenskyy stressed that European proposals for security guarantees would be insufficient without direct U.S. involvement.
The Ukrainian leader argued that Europe appears fragmented and uncertain when dealing with the American president.
Zelenskyy also announced that the first trilateral meeting involving Ukraine, Russia, and the United States is scheduled to take place on Friday and Saturday in the United Arab Emirates. According to the Ukrainian president, delegations from Kyiv and Moscow will meet with U.S. officials in what he described as an initial step toward broader negotiations.
