Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urged the international community on Wednesday to apply more pressure on Russia to end its invasion of Ukraine and secure a lasting peace. His statement came as a Ukrainian delegation arrived in Paris for high-level talks with European and American officials.
“There must be pressure on the [Russian] murderers in order to end this war and ensure a sustainable peace,” Zelensky wrote on Telegram.
The call for action came after deadly attacks across Ukraine. According to regional authorities, ten civilians were killed in Russian strikes on multiple cities. In the eastern city of Dnipro, three people were killed and 30 wounded in what local governor Serhii Lysak described as “massive drone attacks.” Two more were killed by artillery fire in Nikopol, and additional casualties were reported in Kramatorsk and Pokrovsk, near the front line in Donetsk region.
Meanwhile, the Russian military claimed to have captured the village of Preobrazhenka, also located in Donetsk province.
French President Emmanuel Macron and Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot are expected to host the talks.
According to Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry, discussions will include a potential “comprehensive ceasefire,” the possible deployment of a “multinational peacekeeping force,” and the development of a new security framework for Ukraine.
The Kremlin responded sharply to the Paris talks, accusing European leaders of seeking to “prolong the war” rather than end it.
As diplomatic efforts unfold in the French capital, Ukraine continues to endure daily shelling and drone attacks, while pressing for international solidarity and long-term security assurances.
