Discussions persist at the Patriarchate regarding the circumstances and the information that led to the removal of Metropolitan Nathaniel of Chicago as a member of the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
He was accused of being the individual responsible for leaking details of the Synod’s discussions on the Ukrainian issue to the Orthodox Times.
Several individuals were accused, including those closely associated with the Archbishop of America. This is a claim that even the Metropolitan of Chicago does not believe.
In the Bosphorus, however, it is widely suggested that the case was orchestrated by a tall journalist fluent in Italian.
