The “Agios Porphyrios” Center for Gerontology and Welfare Support comprised 27 acres. The buildings cover 2 acres and the rest is the surrounding area of the Center.
The Center consists of the main building covering 4,814 square meters which will accommodate 68 elders in 4 units.
In the surrounding area the Church of St. Athanasios was built in order to cover the worship needs of those living in the Center.
In the surrounding area there is a model photovoltaic park for the energy support of the Center.
The “Agios Porphyrios” Center for Gerontology and Welfare Support is expected to make use of the existing experience and know-how of the Archdiocese in the field of welfare services, by providing the following services:
• accommodation;
• catering;
• creative employment;
• therapeutic occupational programmes;
• psychological support and
• preventive health care for elderly people and those in need,
who will be living:
• either within the Center (basic model of operation)
• or elsewhere (day care model).
The “Agios Porphyrios” Center for Gerontology and Welfare Support is a model structure of living, support and accommodation for elderly people and those in need, which is addressed the people from the Region of Central Greece and the Attica Basin, thus satisfying a larger part of demand for social care structures for elderly people.
The Center will provide high quality care and support services to economically vulnerable sensitive groups.
Through the provision of accommodation, day care and preventive medicine services, the Center is expected to become a multidimensional care facility and integrated support for the elderly people in the Region, significantly enhancing the qualitative and quantitative capacity of existing public infrastructure.
