The second day of the 31st Pan-Orthodox Conference on heresy issues, where attended representatives of the Orthodox Churches and the Holy Metropolises, took place yesterday, on October 23.
Assistant Professor in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Protopresbyterian Vasilios Georgopoulos, was the first to make a presentation on “Nontrinitarianism”. In particular, he referred to antitrinitarians and spoke of their history, their activity in the world and in Greece, and their beliefs.
Then, Archimandrite Augustine of Myron took the floor and made a presentation on “Religious syncretism and the continuous efforts made to change unchangeable God”.
The presentation of Archimandrite Theofilos Lemontzis was on “The theories and the perceptions of God in the Theosophical Society”. He highlighted, “The image of God presented by the Theosophical Society is the inverted image of the living God of the Bible. So, it is diametrically opposed to the one of the Orthodox Church.
Protopresbyterian Sotirios Athanasoulias made a presentation on “The false interpretation of the Bible in the doctrines of the Watch Tower Society”. In particular, he stressed, “The Watch Tower Society of Jehovah’s Witnesses is one of the most well-known ancient ‘heretical organisations’. It presents a human nature of God and denies the Christian doctrine of the Trinity, the equality of the Holy Spirit with the Father and Son, the Resurrection of Jesus Christ etc.”
The presentation of the last speaker, Theologian Lambros Skontzos, was on “The beliefs of Neo-pagans about God”. He said that the global phenomenon of Neo-Paganism showed that they had similar beliefs about God with the ‘New Age Movement’.
The conference will be concluded today.
