A contribution to the discussion held within the framework of the Conference co-organized by the Church of Greece and the World Council of Churches (WCC) was made by the representative of the Russian Church, Fr. Stefan Igumnov, Secretary for Inter-Christian Relations of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate.
Fr. Stefan essentially emphasized that the discussion should not focus solely on the Russia–Ukraine conflict but should also reference other global conflicts.
He notably added that “it is a bad idea to do so at a time when the peace process has begun and when both sides acknowledge that these are successful first steps.”
He further proposed that “we should think more about the humanitarian and ecclesiastical dimensions of what is happening in Ukraine.”
