The statement by President Aleksandar Vučić reads as follows:
“I am honored that in the Church of Saint Sava, this magnificent testament to our faith, history, and culture, I had the joy of meeting His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije and the distinguished Russian artist Nikolay Mukhin, the creator of the awe-inspiring mosaics that grace the interior of this sacred Serbian shrine.
We spoke about the complex and dedicated work he invested in creating the monumental frescoes and mosaics, as well as the profound symbolism and spiritual strength that his art conveys to future generations. Mr. Mukhin’s work represents not only an artistic achievement but also a bridge connecting our peoples through our shared Orthodox tradition and sincere friendship.
This was an opportunity to express my gratitude for everything he has done to make the Church of Saint Sava one of the most beautiful and authentic Orthodox churches in the world. His vision and creative devotion have left an indelible mark on Serbia’s cultural heritage.
It was also agreed that Mr. Mukhin will continue his work on the mosaics in the corridors of the Church of Saint Sava. I am confident that we will continue to nurture our shared values and contribute to the richness of our country’s spiritual and artistic identity.”
