Metropolitan Antonios of Volokolamsk had a meeting with Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem.
The meeting was held in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, on the sidelines of the Assembly of Leaders of Traditional and World Religions, which began today.
As per the website of the Department for External Church Relations of the Russian Orthodox Church, the Metropolitan of Volokolamsk conveyed the greeting of Patriarch Kirill of Moscow, and pointed out that “in the Russian Orthodox Church they are happy to welcome as a dear guest the head of the Mother of the Churches, Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem, within its canonical limits.”
For his part, the Patriarch of Jerusalem congratulated Metropolitan Antonios of Volokolamsk for his appointment as president of the Department of External Church Relations of the Patriarchate of Moscow and wished him every success.
Also, the interlocutors discussed a wide range of issues, which concern the mutual relations of the two Churches, the announcement states.
