U.S. President Donald Trump directed sharp criticism at Russian President Vladimir Putin today, calling on him to halt overnight missile strikes on Kyiv, labeling them “unnecessary” and ill-timed.
“I am not happy with the Russian strikes on KYIV. Not necessary, and very bad timing,” Trump wrote in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, adding a blunt plea to the Kremlin leader: “Vladimir, STOP!”
The former president emphasized the human cost of the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, stating: “5,000 soldiers a week are dying. Let’s get the Peace Deal DONE!”
Trump’s statement comes just a day after he controversially accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of obstructing peace negotiations. While offering little detail, Trump suggested that opportunities for ending the war were being missed, pointing blame at Kyiv’s leadership.
