On the afternoon of Monday, September 7, 2026, Metropolitan Cleopas of Sweden and All Scandinavia welcomed Bishop Isidoros of Andida at the Metropolis headquarters in Stockholm.
The Bishop arrived in the Swedish capital that same day and will remain in Sweden from September 7 to 21, taking part in the Scholars-in-Residence 2026 program of the Axel and Margaret Ax Johnson Foundation, hosted at the historic Engelsberg estate in the province of Västmanland.
During his stay, on September 15, the Bishop will co-organize an interdisciplinary conference on the theme: “What Does It Mean to Be Human in the Age of Artificial Intelligence?”
The conference will bring together theologians, philosophers, scholars of religion, psychologists, and information technology specialists, who will examine key questions concerning human intelligence, experience, ethics, and imagination in a world increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence.
The distinguished visitor was received by Metropolitan Cleopas and Auxiliary Bishop Bartholomew of Elaia, who gave him a tour of the facilities of the Cathedral of St. George in Stockholm, as well as the Museum of Greek Christian Heritage.
During the visit, the three hierarchs had the opportunity to discuss matters of shared ecclesiastical and academic interest, as well as the contemporary challenges arising from the rapid development and application of artificial intelligence.
A lunch followed at a local restaurant, during which the Metropolitan and the Bishop of Elaia expressed their particular joy at the visit of the Bishop of Andida and at the opportunity for fraternal fellowship with him.
The Metropolitan spoke with special emotion about having had the honor, as a member of the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, to take part in the election of His Grace Isidoros as Bishop of Andida. He emphasized that this visit to Stockholm, following his election and ordination as Bishop, was a distinct honor and brought great joy to the Holy Metropolis of Sweden.
Concluding the warm meeting, the Metropolitan wished the Bishop of Andida the continued paternal blessing of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, as well as health, strength, and every success in his new episcopal ministry.
