On Thursday, February 13, 2025, the traditional Vasilopita cutting ceremony was held at the Economic and Commercial Office of Milan, following a gracious invitation from Ms. Betti Larda, First Counselor for Economic and Commercial Affairs and Director of the Office.
The blessing and cutting of the Vasilopita were officiated by Archimandrite Ioannis Batsis, head of the Greek Orthodox Parish of Milan, who plays a key role in maintaining the spirit of unity and collaboration between the Greek community and local institutions.
The event was attended by Ms. Eleni Gavriliadou, Director of the Hellenic National Tourism Organization (EOT) Office in Milan, and many dignitaries. Additionally, numerous Greek and Italian professionals from various sectors in Milan participated, including business executives, lawyers, doctors, entrepreneurs, and other key industry figures whose contributions drive the city’s economic and professional dynamism.
The event served as an important occasion for networking and strengthening relations between institutions and professionals, highlighting the continuous role of the Greek Orthodox Church in Milan. This year holds special significance, as it marks the centenary of the Church’s official presence in the city. The recognition of its contribution by institutions such as the Economic and Commercial Office underscores its importance not only as a spiritual center but also as a pillar of cohesion, dialogue, and cooperation within Milan’s multicultural and professional landscape.
