Ambassador Philip T. Reeker, in charge of European and Eurasian Affairs at the US State Department, accompanied by US Ambassador in Ankara David Satterfield, visited the Ecumenical Patriarchate on Saturday, October 3, 2020.
Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew welcomed Philip T. Reeker, and they had a long discussion on various issues of common interest.
The ambassador was also accompanied by the US Consul General in Constantinople, Daria Darnell, and Kevin S. Moss, Consulate Officer, while the meeting was attended by Archbishop Makarios of Australia and the Archon Didaskalos tou Genous (Teacher of the Nation) and Director of the First Patriarchal Office, Konstantinos Delikonstantis.
On Sunday, October 4, 2020, the Ecumenical Patriarch was prayerfully attending in the altar during the Divine Liturgy that was performed by Archbishop Makarios of Australia at the Patriarchal Church of Saint George.
Afterwards, he received Archbishop Leon of Helsinki and all Finland, accompanied by Father Ioannis Lambropoulos, Father Michael Sidoroff, First Deacon Andreas Salminen and the theologian Elisha Heikkila.
