Turkey will resume research activity for energy deposits in the Eastern Mediterranean with a third research vessel, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said today, claiming that Greece “did not keep its promises” in recent talks aimed at easing tensions.
The Turkish research vessel Oruc Reis today resumed its survey activity in the Eastern Mediterranean. It is the second Turkish vessel operating in the region, after the RV Barbaros Hayreddin Paşa, which is now located south of Cyprus.
A third search ship, Yavuz, will return to the area accompanied by Turkish Navy vessels after maintenance work, Erdogan said in his speech to his AKP parliamentary group in Ankara.
“We will continue to give Greece and the Greek-Cypriot administration – which do not keep their promises on EU and NATO platforms – the answer that they deserve.”
The above was stated by the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in a speech to members of his party, AKP, as he pledged to give the Greek side “the answer it deserves”.
In his speech, the Turkish president stressed that “our vessel, Oruc Reis, has returned to the Mediterranean. We will continue to give the necessary response to Greece and the Greek-Cypriot administration who did not keep their promises during the conversations.”
