More than 1,800 anti-war protesters in Ukraine have been arrested in Russia, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights said today, calling for the release of those still in custody.
“The arrest of people exercising their right to freedom of expression or to peaceful assembly constitutes an arbitrary deprivation of liberty. We call on the authorities to ensure the immediate release of all those detained arbitrarily for exercising their rights,” said Ravina Samdasani, a spokeswoman for the UNHCR.
