U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle met in Athens with Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem.
In a statement, the Ambassador expressed her deep gratitude for the meeting, highlighting the significance of the Patriarch’s presence and his work.
She also referred to the honorary distinction bestowed upon the President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, whom the Patriarch honored with the title of “Grand Cross of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre.” She noted that this recognition underscores the strong ties between the United States and the Greek Orthodox Church.
Finally, she emphasized the United States’ steadfast commitment to protecting religious freedom around the world.
