Trump’s Greece ambassador nominee, Kimberly Guilfoyle, on Greece and Archbishop of America

Kimberly Guilfoyle expressed deep honor at being nominated by President Donald Trump to serve as the next U.S. Ambassador to Greece. In an exclusive interview with ERT, she emphasized her anticipation of securing the approval of the relevant U.S. Senate committee.

“I am eager to collaborate with the Greek government and will work diligently to ensure that the strong ties between Greece and the United States continue to deepen under President Trump’s leadership,” she said.

As she said, “as a valuable NATO ally, Greece plays a significant role within the European Union and serves as a pillar of stability and security in the region.”

“My appointment in Athens underscores President Trump’s appreciation for Greece and reflects the deep and dynamic relationship between our two nations.”

Gilfoyle noted that “Greece is currently one of the fastest-growing economies in Europe” and stressed that “over the past decade, Greece has committed to building a robust economy, with its strength resting on the shoulders of its people.”

“Despite facing significant challenges, Greek society has demonstrated remarkable resilience. Under President Trump’s leadership and in partnership with our Greek allies, I am eager to serve as the next U.S. Ambassador and to promote an agenda focused on robust economic growth, education, energy security, and defense cooperation,” she said.

“Greece, as the birthplace of democracy, has profoundly influenced America’s founding principles of freedom and equality. The democratic ideals established in Greece have shaped the U.S. democratic system. The United States and Greece share a strong bond rooted in mutual respect, common values, and a commitment to freedom and sovereignty.”

She also extended heartfelt gratitude to Archbishop Elpidophoros, the esteemed spiritual leader of the Greek Orthodox Church in America, John Katsimatides, a close friend of President Trump, and the leaders of the Greek American community for their unwavering support and warm wishes for her success in this important role.

“We are currently preparing for my transition, and I would like to express my gratitude to Ambassador George Tsunis for his support and coordination, which have been instrumental in ensuring a smooth handover,” she stressed.

“The relationship between the United States and Greece is rooted in deep historic ties, and the dynamic and successful Greek-American community in the U.S. has played a crucial role in strengthening this relationship.”

“I look forward to commencing my assignment as the U.S. Ambassador to Greece, and I am eager to meet the Greek people and explore the beautiful country steeped in history. I will strive to fulfill the expectations of President Donald Trump, serving both the American people and the people of Greece to the best of my ability,” she concluded.
