Donald Trump announced on Thursday that the so-called peace council for the Gaza Strip has been officially formed, describing it as a critical step in the United States’ plan concerning the Palestinian enclave.
“It was a great honor to announce that the council had been formed. The list of its members would be revealed soon,” the US president said in a post on Truth Social.
According to the announcement, the council’s mission will be to oversee a temporary Palestinian committee composed of 15 non-political technocrats. This body will be tasked with managing the day-to-day affairs of Gaza during the transitional period.
Trump added that further details, including the names of the council members, will be made public in the near future.
