On Tuesday morning October 5, 2021, the tonsure of two novice monks was observed by Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem at the chapel of Pentecost in the Patriarchate Headquarters.
The new monks are Athanasios Kirmitsakis, who has been serving at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre for the last two years, and Elias Konidis, who arrived recently from Greece.
Through their tonsure, the new monks became members of the Hagiotaphite Brotherhood.
After the tonsure service, the Patriarch admonished the new monks, underlining the importance of the monastic ministry for the safeguarding of the All-holy shrines, the reception, and care of the pilgrims, and the pastoral care of our Rum Orthodox flock.
