The Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, which was convened today, elected three new assistant bishops.
The Abbots of the Holy Patriarchal and Stavropegic Monastery of Our Lady of the Angels (also known as Gouverneto Monastery), Eirinaios Verykakis, under the title “Bishop of Evmeneia” and of the Holy Trinity Zangaroli, Damaskinos Lionakis, under the title “Bishop of Dorylaion.” The newly-elected Bishop of Evmeneia will be ordained on December 8 and the Bishop of Dorylaion on December 15. Their ordination will be held at the Phanar.
Moreover, the Director of the Archbishop Iakovos Library and Learning Resource Center of the Hellenic College Holy Cross, Archimandrite Ioakeim Kotsonis, was elected Assistant Bishop to Archbishop Elpidophoros of America under the title “Bishop of Amissos.”
