The number of believers who came to pay their respects to Saint Paraskeva of Epibatima in Iași has surpassed all expectations.
According to the Romanian portal Doxologia.ro, until yesterday, on the eve of the feast, more than 90,000 faithful paid their respects to the relics of St. Paraskeva over the weekend.
As reported, the two main reasons for this large number were the good weather conditions and the transfer of the right hand of Saint Spyridon. That led to a record number of pilgrims.
Many also attended the vigil service on the eve of the feast at the Iași Metropolitan Cathedral.
On October 14 every year, Iași becomes an important pilgrimage site for the whole country. On that day, a procession of the relic of Saint Paraskeva is held throughout the city with the participation of thousands of faithful.
