The innovative platform staellinika.com, created by the SNF Center for Hellenic Studies of the Simon Fraser University of Canada, with the contribution of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation and in collaboration with the General Secretariat of Hellenes Abroad of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece, has as its mission supporting the learning of the Greek language with the use of digital technology.
The platform is aimed at preschool children, primary school children, and young people of the Greek Diaspora, aiming to offer them innovative pedagogical tools for teaching and learning the Greek language. It has already received a warm response, counting more than 30,000 registered users worldwide.
In fact, the SNF Center for Hellenic Studies, the content of the platform will be expanded, to make it compatible with Spanish-speaking and Portuguese-speaking expatriates who wish to learn the Greek language and mythology.
The announcement followed the recent commitment of the Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, that the necessary funding will be provided for the platform to operate in Spanish and Portuguese. “Learning the language, the contact with our history and our Greek traditions -the customs and traditions of our country- are, finally, those constituent elements that keep alive the contact of the new generation mainly with the motherland”, had been stressed by the Prime Minister of Greece.
