The new bishops, the Chief Secretary of the Holy Synod, Bishop Filotheos of Oreoi and the Auxiliary Bishop Filotheos of Rogoi gave today the solemn assurance before Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens.
The solemn assurance was given to the Archdiocese of Athens in the presence of many clergy and staff.
The Charter of the Holy Synod of July 9, 1852 established the clergy to give assertions, the archpriests in their archpriesthood and the other clergy in their priesthood.
In the solemn assurance the Archpriest puts his right hand on his chest and promises to abide by the “Canon Law” and the laws of the state.
