The Service of the Akathist Hymn was performed on Friday, the fifth week of Lent, by the Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine, Epiphaniy, at the Cathedral of St. Michael in Kyiv.
The service was co-officiated by Metropolitan Kliment of Simferopol and Crimea, Archbishop Vishgorod Agapit, and other priests, all of whom prayed together with the Primate of the Church of Ukraine.
On Thursday, Metropolitan Epiphaniy visited the town of Borodyanka in the Kiev region, which was severely damaged by Russian troops.
The Metropolitan of Kyiv, together with nurses, delivered humanitarian aid to the local Church of the Nativity of the Virgin.
He then inspected homes destroyed by Russian troops in the city center, who left many civilians dead.
Metropolitan Epiphaniy also had talks with soldiers and rescuers.
