The proceedings of the 2nd Pan-Australian Clergy Conference continued on Tuesday, September 30, in Sydney, at the facilities of the Parish–Community of the Resurrection of Christ in Kogarah, under the auspices of the Holy Archdiocesan Provincial Synod of the Archdiocese of Australia, with the theme: “Social Media and the Priesthood: The Use of Social Media by Clergy.”
On the second day of the Conference, a series of interesting presentations were delivered, addressing various aspects of this timely topic, as follows:
- “The Mark on Their Right Hand or on Their Foreheads: The Fear of the End Times in Social Media,” by Metropolitan Justin of Nea Krini and Kalamaria
- “Contemporary Pastoral Care and Social Media,” by Metropolitan Damaskinos of Aetolia and Acarnania
- “Numerical Models for Describing Behavioral Patterns on Social Media,” by Bishop Athenagoras of Canberra
- “The Priest as the Image of Christ in the Digital Age: A Call for Authentic Witness,” by Bishop Christophoros of Kerasounta, Protosyncellus of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia
- “Digital Ministry of the Ecumenical Patriarchate on Social Media,” by Patriarchal Deacon Photios Poulopoulos
- “Vigilance and Pastoral Life in the Age of Screens,” by Archimandrite Eusebios of the Ecumenical Throne, Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Pantanassa, Mangrove
- “Thoughts and Social Media,” by Protopresbyter Christos Dimolianis
- “The Priest as a Guide in the World of Social Media: Leading the Flock from Screens to the Sacraments,” by Presbyter Panteleimon Toubeleki
Each presentation was followed by questions and comments on its content. At the conclusion of the Conference, Archbishop Makarios of Australia shared some final reflections with the participants.
