The Saint Catherine’s Monastery leads the Annual International Meeting on Peace through Religions

The Saint Catherine’s Monastery will be one of the most important pillars of the Annual Religious Peace Meeting to be held in October in Saint Catherine, Sinai, Egypt.

Under the auspices of President of Egypt Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the meeting was presented in Cairo by the Governor of South Sinai, General Khaled Fouda.

The significance of the Greek Orthodox Saint Catherine’s Monastery was highlighted by the Egyptian consultant, Antonis Kazamias, who spoke on behalf of Archbishop Damianos of Sinai, Faran and Raitho, as his consultant. Antonis Kazamias described the governor of South Sinai as “a great friend of the Saint Catherine’s Monastery and Greece.”

The ministers of Environment and of Religious Endowment (Awqaf), the deputy ministers of the government, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, the mayor of Saint Catherine, business people and many people attended this event.

Governor Khaled Fouda thanked the Saint Catherine’s Monastery and the fathers for what they offered to make that great event a success.

At the same time, Antonis Kazamias, speaking on behalf of Archbishop Damianos of Sinai, thanked the Governor of South Sinai for the extremely active role he has always played for the development of the region and especially for the city of St. Catherine, where the pillar of the Orthodox world is located. He pointed out how much the Greek Orthodox Holy Monastery had contributed continuously to the improvement of the area and of the quality of life of the inhabitants from the 6th century until today.
