The Ergon Ensemble will be performing on Megaron Online, the website of Athens Concert Hall, a series of concerts entitled “The Repatriation of the Diaspora”.
As reported by vema.au.com, Ergon Ensemble, which specialises in 20th and 21st-century music, aims to introduce to the public contemporary composers of Greek descent or of Greek composers who live abroad.
In this joint venture of the Athens Concert Hall and the Ergon Ensemble, the members of the ensemble will be performing musical works of 16 composers during 4 concerts. The programme of the concerts was created by geographical criteria in order to highlight the peculiarities of each work. As a result, the public will be able to draw their own conclusions about the musical works.
The first musical tribute (“The New World”) will be focusing on the United States and Canada. The evening programme will begin with two duets of the Juno Award-winning Greek-Canadian composer, Christos Hatzis. A quartet and a quintet will follow by award-winning composer Panagiotis Kokoras. In the end, there will be performed an octet and a noneto by Greek-American composer, Harry Stafylakis. French conductor Philippe Auguin will be conducting the orchestra.
The tribute will be broadcast live on Wednesday, on the 10th of February, at 20:30 EET on the website and Facebook page of the Athens Concert Hall.
