The priest who threw caustic liquid at Metropolitans and a police officer is being taken to the prosecutor today.
The 37-year-old priest who threw caustic liquid at seven metropolitans and a police officer during the Synodal Court yesterday at the Petraki Monastery will be taken to the prosecutor today. All the injured were taken to hospitals.
The perpetrator, who belongs to the Metropolis of Veria and has been accused of drug trafficking in 2018, when he realized that the Synodal Court had decided to dismiss him from his duties, took out a bag with two bottles of caustic liquid and started throwing it at the metropolitans which were in the room, causing them to burn. The policeman who was out of the room and hurried to help the Metropolitans was also injured in the attack.
The perpetrator who was taken to the Athens Security Sub-Directorate initially did not say a word to the police, while a little later he told them: “I threw the liquid at them because they dismissed me”. Later the perpetrator claimed that he bought the caustic liquid from the internet.
It is noted, that the case has now been taken over by the Security Sub-directorate of Athens for the Prosecution of Crimes against Life and Property.
