The President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades met today, at the Presidential Palace with the Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria.
After the meeting, in his statements to the journalists, the Patriarch thanked the Republic of Cyprus and referred extensively to the work done by the Patriarchate throughout the African continent.
He expressed great satisfaction for his meeting with the President of the Republic of Cyprus, but also for the discussions he had with the Archbishop Chrysostomos II of Cyprus.
The Patriarch of Alexandria also expressed his joy for the cooperation and friendship between Cyprus, Greece and Egypt.
Referring to the work of the Patriarchate, he said that, among others, two thousand schools and three and a half thousand medical centers will be opened in Africa.
He also expressed satisfaction with the decision to open a Cypriot Embassy in Ethiopia and the appointment of an Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus in Kenya and thanked Leventis Foundation, which, as he said, restores 50 thousand manuscripts that exist in Alexandria.
Finally, the Patriarch expressed his wishes to the Cypriot people.
