The President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou visited on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, the Holy Patriarchal and Stavropegic Monastery of Vlatades.
She was welcomed at the entrance by the Abbot of the Holy Monastery, Bishop Nikiforos of Amorion, who welcomed her to the site of the historic Monastery and conveyed the festive wishes of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
Sakellaropoulou was first guided to the Byzantine catholicon and then to the Museum of the Monastery by the curator of the Patriarchal Institute for Patristic Studies, Flora Karagianni, and then headed to the Abbot’s office, where, together with the traditional monastic treat, she was briefed by the Director of the Patriarchal Foundation, Professor Symeon Paschalidis for the scientific work and the new actions of the Patriarchal Institute for Patristic Studies.
The President of the Republic left impressed by the important work that is being done in the Monastery and in the Patriarchal Institute for Patristic Studies, which consistently and devotedly serve the work of the Great Church of Jesus Christ.
Also, the President of the Hellenic Republic was guided by the Director of the European Center of Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Monuments, Flora Karagianni, in the exhibition: “The Military Saints in Byzantium” organized by the Association “Byzantine Universe” and the Municipality of Thessaloniki, under the auspices of the Ministry of National Defense.
