The Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of Bulgaria addressed the issue of the possible adoption of a new package of European Union sanctions against the Russian Federation, which reportedly includes Patriarch Kirill of Moscow.
At its meeting, the Synod clarified that it is not within its competence to take a position on this matter.

Regarding the issue that has arisen concerning the possible adoption of new sanctions against the Russian Federation, which include His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow, the Holy Synod decided at its regular session on 26 June that it does not fall within its competence to take a position on the matter.
