Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria visited the Theological School of the Orthodox University of Congo in the Holy Metropolis of Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo.
A festive joint celebration of the Divine Liturgy followed at the Katholikon of the School, in the Church of St. Athanasius Athonite.
Patriarch Theodore precided, and Bishop Nicholas of Amathus of Cyprus, Metropolitan Meletios of Katanga, Metropolitan Nicephorus of Kinshasa, New Metropolitan Theodosius of Kananga and Bishop Theodore of Babylon participated in a festive joint celebration of the Divine Liturgy with a multitude of priests from Africa, Greece and Cyprus.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, His Beatitude read out a special prayer for the progress of the students of the Theological School and the pupils of the parish school of Agia Barbara.
At the event that followed at the University’s ceremony hall, the Patriarch also emphasized the value and contribution of the Orthodox Theological School, not only to the Metropolis of Kinshasa, but also to the entire Patriarchate and its missionary ministry to Africa.
He wished the School to remain the voice of Orthodoxy in the Dark Continent, supplying the Church of Christ with trained executives, clergy and lay people.
Also, the Patriarch expressed his warm thanks to the present Mayor of the region for donating an area where a multifunctional clinic of the Holy Metropolis has already been built.
