Today, November 9, 2020, the memory of the patron saint of the Patriarchate of Alexandria, Saint Nektarios (8/11/1920 – 8/11/2020), was celebrated with special brilliance and reverence, in the Chapel of the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of Saint Savvas the Sanctified, in Alexandria, where Saint Nektarios was ordained Protopresbyter.
Bishop of Tamiatheos presided over the Divine Liturgy along with Pope and Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa.
It should be noted that this year marks one hundred years since the Repose of Saint Nektarios and for this reason, the Patriarch paternally called all members of the Hierarchy of the Patriarchate of Alexandria to organize honorary events in honor of Saint Nektarios. Although the celebrations were humble, due to the pandemic, they did not lag behind in glamour and grandeur.
Before the dismissal, the Patriarch addressed the celebratory speech of the day in honor of Saint Nektarios. He referred to the face of the Saint, his patience and the great work he left as a sacred legacy.
The Patriarch expressed His gratitude to the Triune God for the happy and blessed occasion to coincide the hundredth celebration of the Saint during the days of His patriarchy and begged him warmly, not to cease to intercede to the Merciful Lord for the congregation of the Church.
Closing His speech and after wishing for the rapid elimination of the coronavirus, he conveyed as a spiritual balm of consolation to the souls of the Christians, the timeless counsels of Saint Nektarios.
