Today morning, the ordination of Bishop Filotheos, chief secretary of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece, took place at the Metropolitan church of Athens.
The new Bishop of the Church of Greece, in his speech, promised to remain faithful and not to give up the struggle, even though he often feels that his strength is abandoning him.
He thanked Archbishop Ieronymos for trusting him, and did not fail to thank the Body of the Hierarchy of the Church of Greece for accepting the Archbishop’s recommendation of him.
He also showed his respect for the Ecumenical Throne, thanking the Under-Secretary of the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, f. Gregory, for being present.
The Archbishop pointed out that the gifts of the elected were the reason why he and the other hierarchs preferred him for the post of chief secretary, at the beginning, and then for the post of auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Athens.
Finally, he called on the Bishop to be patient with adversities and draw strength from the High Altar.
