With the blessing of Archbishop Makarios of Australia, Bishop Bartholomew of Brisbane visited the Holy Church of St. Paraskevi and presided over the Divine Liturgy, assisted by the Parish Priest, Father Athanasios Athanasiadis.
After the Divine Liturgy, Father Athanasios read the Circular Letter of the Holy Eparchial Synod expressing gratitude to the political authorities, the clergy, and the faithful people of Australia for their contribution to the successful visit of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to the country.
This was followed by a doxology service commemorating the anniversary of October 28, 1940. Then a memorial service was held at the monument in the church courtyard, and wreaths were laid in honor of those who fought and died for faith and country.
Bishop Bartholomew conveyed the love and blessings of Archbishop Makarios to all present and informed them of the Archbishop’s upcoming visit to Brisbane in December.
