On Monday, August 11, 2025, Thomas Barrack, the new U.S. Ambassador to Turkey, visited the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
Accompanied by officials from the U.S. Consulate General in Istanbul and his younger son, Jaden, Mr. Barrack was received by the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. They held an extended discussion in a warm and cordial atmosphere. Topics included the upcoming patriarchal visit to the United States next month, the situation of Christians in Syria, reopening the Halki Theological School, and other issues concerning the Ecumenical Patriarchate’s position and the Greek diaspora in Turkey.
