On Sunday, the enthronement of Metropolitan Antonie of Bessarabia, who was recently elected by the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church, will take place in Chisinau.
The enthronement ceremony will be held following the celebration of the Divine Liturgy, which will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Church of the “Holy Three Hierarchs” in the capital of the Republic of Moldova.
The Divine Liturgy will be celebrated by Metropolitan Theophan of Moldavia and Bukovina, together with the Hierarchs of the Holy Synod of the Metropolis of Bessarabia, as well as other hierarchs and clergy of the Romanian Orthodox Church.
Representatives of central and local authorities, public institutions, and civil society, as well as a large number of faithful, are expected to participate in this historic moment.
“We invite all clergy, monks, nuns, and faithful to participate in this moment of profound spiritual and historical significance, so that together we may raise our prayers to God and ask for His blessing upon the ministry of the new First Hierarch,” the Metropolis of Bessarabia stated in an announcement.
Metropolitan Antonie, who until recently served as Bishop of Bălți, was elected Metropolitan of Bessarabia by the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church during its meeting on July 2.
