The Minister of Development and Investments, Adonis Georgiades, met today with hieromonk Nicodemos Lavriotis and a delegation from the Monastery of Great Lavra.
After the meeting, Minister Georgiadis said that the Ministry of Development and Investments, “following the orders of the Prime Minister, could not be indifferent to the biggest symbol of Orthodoxy in our country.
And our ministry inaugurates a constant communication with the Holy Epistasia (Monastic Αdministrative Αuthority of Mount Athos), to see how we are going to help Mount Athos advance and continue its glorious course.”
For his part, hieromonk Nicodemos expressed his joy and said that “all of us on Mount Athos, we feel a great obligation to congratulate the Prime Minister of Greece because he makes us feel that we do have a Prime Minister. And we feel that we live in a well-governed state. We firmly believe that since the beginning of his governance, he has done more than he had said before the elections. We saw for the first time things that were not pre-announced to take place. That is a very pleasant surprise.
This gives us the hope that something better will emerge for our country, for our fatherland. And because, during all these centuries, Mount Athos prays for the people of God who has faced so many difficulties through the past few years, now it sees hope with great optimism and that something better has come up for the people. And since something better has come up for the people, it has come up for Mount Athos too, because all the power of Mount Athos is in God and in the people of God.”
