On Monday, the 1st of December 2025, Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem received the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of the State of Georgia, David Songulashvili, who was accompanied by the Deputy Ambassador of Georgia, Mrs Sophia Otiasvili.
Patriarch Theophilos warmly welcomed him and said that as Minister of Environmental Protection, he is closely connected with the Church, which is “God’s land of cultivation,” especially that of Jerusalem, which throughout the centuries has had an unceasing presence and activity in the Holy Land for the safeguarding of the Holy Shrines and the preservation of the Status Quo of the Old City of Jerusalem.
The Minister thanked the Patriarch for receiving him and asked for His blessing and prayers for the fruitfulness of the produce of the land of his country.
Patriarch Theophilos blessed the Minister and presented him with a silver-plated iconographic plaque of Jerusalem, while the Minister offered Patriarch Theophilos a plaque on alabaster depicting one of the most significant Holy Monasteries of his homeland.
