On Tuesday morning, September 16, 2025, Metropolitan Barsanuphios of Saint Petersburg visited the Patriarchate of Jerusalem.
He was accompanied by a group of thirty clergy and laypeople, primarily theology students from his Holy Metropolis.
Received by Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem, Metropolitan Barsanuphios praised him for his efforts to support the Christians of the Holy Land and preserve the unity of the Orthodox Churches.
In response, the Patriarch thanked the Metropolitan for his kind words and for visiting the Holy Land, the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, and the Holy Sepulchre—the source of our faith in the risen Lord Jesus Christ and a source of hope and strength for the unity of the Orthodox churches. The Patriarch further recommended that the theology students study the Fathers of the Church.
During the visit, Metropolitan Barsanuphios gave the Patriarch a set of episcopal engolpia, and the Patriarch gave the students an engolpion and an icon of the Theotokos.
