On Friday, 16 January 2026, an official and cordial meeting took place at the Embassy of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire in Accra between Metropolitan Daniel of Accra and the Ambassador of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire to Ghana, Assiélou Félix Tanon.
During the meeting, Metropolitan Daniel conveyed the paternal wishes of Pope and Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa for the New Year, as well as his warm congratulations on the re-election of the President of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, Alassane Dramane Ouattara.
In the context of a cordial and constructive dialogue, important issues were discussed concerning the presence, pastoral mission, and activities of the Orthodox Church in both Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana, with particular emphasis on cooperation in the fields of education, philanthropy, and healthcare.
The Ambassador expressed his great pleasure for the meeting and emphasized that he is well aware of the long-standing and significant presence of the Orthodox Church in his country, as well as the valuable service offered by its clergy, who minister with love and dedication to the people.
Finally, the Ambassador underlined his desire for continued and strengthened cooperation, noting that a new meeting with Metropolitan Daniel will take place in the near future, aiming at the further development of joint initiatives for the benefit of the peoples of both countries.
