At the invitation of the Metropolitan Nicholas of Philippopolis and the blessing of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece, Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Chalkida brought the Holy Skull of Saint Marina the Great Martyr, which is kept in the Holy Monastery of Saint Georgios in Ilia, Eubea, to Philippopolis in view of the celebration of the Metropolitan Church of Saint Marina in Philippopolis.
The Metropolitan of Chalkida arrived in Sofia and then travelled to Philippopolis, where the Holy Skull of Saint Marina was received solemnly and the memory of the saint was celebrated on Tuesday, July 16, 2019.
After the reception of the Holy Skull at the Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos, a litany was held, attended by Metropolitans Nicholas of Philippopolis, Chrysostomos of Chalkida, Grigorios of Vratsa, Bishops Demetri of Safita (from the Patriarchate of Antioch), Sioniy of Veliki, Arseniy of Znepol and Arseniy of Constantina, fathers of Mount Athos, dozens of clerics, local authorities, and a great number of believers.
Then the Polyarchieratic Vespers Service took place, which was presided by Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Chalkida.
On Wednesday, July 17, 2019, the Orthros Service and the Great Divine Liturgy was presided by the Metropolitan of Chalkida, and accompanied by the aforementioned archpriests and clerics.
