On Saturday evening, April 19, 2025, the Holy Light will be brought from Jerusalem by Archimandrite Father Teofil Anăstăsoae, Abbot of the Romanian Patriarchate’s establishments in the Holy Land, and will be handed over to the representatives of the parishes from the Patriarchate’s dioceses present at “Otopeni” International Airport.
Subsequently, through the archdiocesan deaneries, the episcopal centers will distribute the Holy Light to every parish within their jurisdictions. As in previous years, this year as well, under the care of a representative from the Metropolis of Moldavia and Bukovina, the Holy Light will be transported from Bucharest to Chișinău, to be distributed to the parishes of the Metropolis of Bessarabia.
Patriarch Daniel will receive the Holy Light at the Patriarchal Cathedral later that same evening, around 7:00 p.m.
The transfer and offering of the Holy Light from Jerusalem to all the parishes of the Romanian Patriarchate represents both an expression of ecclesiastical unity and the Paschal joy shared on the occasion of the great celebration of the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
