With reverence and respect, ANZAC Day was commemorated by the Holy Diocese of Chora, which paid due tribute to the Australian and New Zealand soldiers who fought and sacrificed their lives for freedom.
In this context, the Parish of the Transfiguration of the Saviour in Thomastown organized, on Sunday, April 26, a memorial service and wreath-laying ceremony at the Australian-Hellenic Memorial of the Northern Suburbs, located in the courtyard of the Holy Church, under the auspices of competent Greek community memorial organizations.
The Matins and the Divine Liturgy preceded the ceremony, presided over by Bishop Eumenios of Chora, who subsequently officiated the memorial service for the repose of the souls of the fallen.
During the ceremony, His Grace conveyed to those present the paternal blessings and wishes of Archbishop Makarios of Australia and read his official message for the occasion.
Among those in attendance at the commemorative event were the Consul General of Greece in Melbourne, Dimitra Georgantzoglou, as well as representatives of the State of Victoria, the Armed Forces, Greek community organizations, and educational institutions of the Greek diaspora, highlighting the significance of the day and the spirit of unity.
Short addresses and poetry recitations by students took place at the memorial, who, with sensitivity and respect, honored the memory of the heroes, adding a deeply moving tone to the ceremony.

The commemorative event concluded with the laying of wreaths by representatives of the Church, the State, and the Greek diaspora.
