The Greek Orthodox Community of Norway has set up a team of experienced volunteers through which it offers assistance to newcomers every Wednesday between 18.00 – 20.00.
The assistance offered is a hand of support to the newcomers to facilitate their settlement in Norway. It should be noted that in no way does this voluntary support replace Norwegian public services, nor private accountants or lawyers.
However, the assistance provided is regarding the following:
- Preparation of CVs
- Registration with the UDI (Police) via the Internet
- Guidance on which public services to contact
- Assistance with ordering a European health insurance card, changing a family doctor, change of address.
It is stressed that this service is provided by volunteers in the community. Given the workload of the volunteers, please do not approach specific volunteers privately, either after the designated hours or outside the Community premises.
Assistance in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic:
Currently and until a different announcement is issued, the service and information of newcomers is done remotely. In particular, assistance will be offered online through the messenger application so that there is no need for a physical meeting. The hours and day of service remain as they are (i.e. every Wednesday from 18:00 to 20:00) and are free of charge.
Those who need volunteer assistance with the above issues are asked to send an email to osloxo@gmail.com with their name and the issue they need help with no later than 5:00 pm on Wednesday.
Subsequently, you will receive a service time (appointment) and a link through which to contact one of our community volunteers. This link will be deactivated after the service hours.
