On the day of St. Demetrius, on October 26, 2020, the Orthodox Christians of Cairo, honored his memory in the homonymous Community Church located in Zeitoun.
The Patriarchal Commissioner of Cairo Metropolitan Nicodemus of Memphis, along with the Abbot of the Holy Monastery of St. George in Old Cairo, Archim. Damaskinos Alazrai and priests of the Patriarchate of Alexandria performed the Divine Liturgy.
Metropolitan Nicodemus of Memphis, gave his wishes to the flock and said, among other things: “The myrrh that gushes from St. Demetrius protects us, covers us and always scents our lives”.
He also thanked the people who attended the Divine Liturgy and stressed that it is important at least at the feasts of the temples “that the faithful be present and receive the wishes and blessings of the Saints.”
For his part, the Abbot of the Holy Monastery of St. George of Old Cairo Archim. Damaskinos Alazrai, spoke to the Arabic-speaking flock that had flooded the temple, about the life of St. Demetrius.
A treat followed in the courtyard of the temple.
