A feast was held on Monday evening, January 30, 2023, at the Holy Cross and Archangel Michael Golders Green Church in London, to celebrate the Greek and Christian letters as well as the feast of the Three Hierarchs.
The speaker at the event was Bishop Raphael of Ilion. Byzantine hymns were sung by the School of Byzantine Music of the Holy Archdiocese, directed by Protopresbyter Iosif Paliouras.
The event of Greek and Christian letters was completed with a narrative wandering by Katerina Barotsaki, where she combined recitation of poets’ verses from Greece and Cyprus.
Archbishop Nikitas of Thyateira and Great Britain, who spoke at the beginning and end of the feast, thanked the speaker, the participants, the organizer of the event, Ismini Hatzigianni – Ghika, Coordinator of the Central Educational Council of the Holy Archdiocese, the parish that hosted the event, the hierarchical Head of the Holy Church, Protopresbyter Vassilios Papathanasiou, as well as all the attendees.
Present were Metropolitan Athanasios of Cologne, Bishop Iakovos of Claudioupolis, the Consul General of Greece in London Christos Goulas and Odysseas Odysseos of Cyprus, who also addressed greetings, the Secretary General of the Greek Embassy Georgios Drakopoulos and the Deputy Coordinator of Education at the Greek Embassy Veroni Irene.
The clergy of the Holy Archdiocese, teachers of Greek Schools, and many believers participated.
The event was followed by an official reception in the community hall.
