With ecclesiastical splendor and reverence, the feast of the Beheading of the Honorable Head of Saint John the Forerunner and Baptist of the Lord was celebrated on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Holy Church of the Nativity of Saint John the Forerunner in Nea Synoikia – Ano Vosporos.
The Divine Liturgy was presided over by Elder Metropolitan Apostolos of Derkoi, flanked by the sacred clergy, while faithful members of the community joined in prayer, having come to honor the memory of the Honorable Forerunner.
The feast held special significance for the Elder Metropolis of Derkoi, as it coincided with the completion of fifteen years since the election of Metropolitan Apostolos to the historic Metropolitan Throne of Derkoi.
Amid the reverent atmosphere of the great feast of the Honorable Forerunner, clergy and faithful alike offered thanks to God for the Metropolitan’s fifteen years of hierarchical service to the Metropolis of Derkoi, and prayed that the Lord grant him health, strength, and long life, so that he may continue his pastoral and ecclesiastical ministry for many years to come.
Following the Divine Liturgy, a reception was held in the Community Hall.
