The memory of Saint Paraskevi was celebrated at the homonymous Church located at the entrance of the Metropolitan Mansion in Nea Ionia.
On the day of the feast, Friday, July 26, 2019, Metropolitan Gabriel of Nea Ionia and Philadelphia officiated at the Matins and then celebrated the Divine Liturgy. Metropolitan Makarios of Anea also attended the liturgy.
In his address Metropolitan Gabriel referred to the martyrdom of Saint Paraskevi and to her admirable love for God and people, whose example today, in a dangerous society where man has lost his values, is more timely than ever. He wished her grace to open the imaginary eyes of each of us and to make us love God and our neighbour.
In the afternoon at 7.30pm the festal Vespers and the Holy Prayer of Saint Paraskevi will be celebrated and then the Holy Vigil on the memory of the Great-Martyr and Unmercenary Healer Panteleimon (Pantaleon).
