With the blessing of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, the Orthodox Community of Ankara celebrated Christmas on Saturday, January 7, 2023, according to the Julian calendar.
The Divine Liturgy, which was attended by Orthodox faithful from various countries, and served by the priest of the Orthodox Community of Ankara, Archimandrite Victor, was celebrated in both Slavic and Turkish. Also, prayers and hymns were sung in Gagauz, Ukrainian, Russian and Georgian. At the end of the Divine Liturgy, Christmas carols were sung in these languages.
The Christmas celebration continued in the Church Hall of St. Teresa, with the members of the congregation participating in a common meal, which was had in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
